April 11 Band Concert

Plan to come to Riverside Park on April 11 at 2:00 P.M. to hear another fabulous concert presented by the Bonita Springs Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Dennis Hill. The Band has developed a following of people in the local community who like to be entertained by dedicated, outstanding musicians playing familiar songs that have remained favorites for many years. Music by Henry Mancini, Glenn Miller songs, John Philip Sousa marches and a Bill Joel ragtime song are just a few of the selections to be played by the seventy musicians of the Concert Band.

Bring a chair and refreshments and enjoy two hours in Riverside Park listening to the very special Bonita Springs Concert Band.

March 7 was a special day for the Bonita Springs Concert Band. The three Rotary clubs in the Bonita Springs-Estero area, and the District Rotary, joined to make a $3,000 donation so that the Band might purchase a much needed trailer. The Presidents of the various Rotaries made the presentation. The band, under the direction of Dr. Dennis Hill, continues to grow and expand its music offerings. The diverse musical program, offering a wide range of light classical music to showtunes and marches, thrilled the large audience. People were humming, singing, clapping and tapping their feet to the music. Seven trombone players played Henry Filmore’s Lassus Trombone, and Bob Thurston, principal Euphonium, presented Variations for Euphonium and Concert Band. The next concert will be April 11.

March 7 Bonita Springs Concert Band Concert

The sixty-eighty musicians of the Concert Band are practicing for a great musical program that will showcase their varied talents. “M” is for Mancini, Dance Fever, Irving Berlin’s Songs for America, The Best of John Mellencamp are all medleys of songs that are very familiar to you. Midway March, New Mexico March, Raider’s March, and Hands Across the Sea will have you stamping your feet. Bob Thurston, principal Euphonium player will delight us with a solo.

Bring a chair and refreshments and enjoy the music. A free will offering is taken during the intermission. The day is March 7 at 2:00 P.M. at Riverside Park.

The cool, brisk weather did not deter the enthusiasm of the audience who were treated to a superb musical performance by the Bonita Springs Concert Band. Under the direction of Dr. Dennis Hill, a great mix of marches, pop, ragtime, light classics and show tunes were played by the talented musicians. Antonio Castillo, principal trumpet player and soloist, played the first movement of the Concerto for Bb Trumpet. He was outstanding.

Concerts are given once a month in the band shell on Old 41 in Bonita Springs. Please join us on March 7 at 2:00 P.M. for the next concert.

February 7th Concert Program

The Bonita Springs Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Dennis Hill, will give an energetic performance playing varied selections of marches, pop, ragtime, light classics and show tunes for the audience. Antonio Castillo, our very talented trumpet soloist, will play Concerto for Bb Trumpet. The Concert Band, consisting of over sixty accomplished musicians, will delight everyone with selections from Phantom of the Opera, Broadway Marches, Fiddle Tunes from the American Revolution and Neil Diamond tunes. Showtime is 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, Feb. 7 at the band shell on Old 41 in Bonita Springs. Bring a chair and refreshments.

The Bonita Springs Concert Band, under the direction of guest conductor Fred Streckfuss, wowed the audience playing a medley of songs from Fiddler on the Roof, the Magic of Andrew Lloyd Webber, a Tribute to Irving Berlin, Strike Up the Band, Funiculi Funicula and other wonderful music loved by audiences everywhere. This was a great opportunity to experience a varied musical program played by over sixty talented musicians.

The Bonita Springs Concert Band, under the direction of guest conductor Fred Streckfuss, will play a diverse program of marches, swing, classical and show tunes. There will be a tribute to Irving Berlin, selections from Fiddler on the Roof, excerpts from the opera Die Meistersinger as well as audience favorites Funiculi Funicula, Strike Up the Band, and Red, White and Brass.

Come join the fun on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Riverside Park on Old 41 in Bonita Springs. Bring a chair and refreshments and enjoy this gala event.

December 13, 2009 Holiday Concert Recap

On December 13, 2009, the Bonita Springs Concert Band entertained a large crowd presenting a superb Christmas concert . The band played our favorite Christmas songs and were joined by Connie Gowin Hill, a professional singer. She sang “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “White Christmas”. Antonio Castillo, principal trumpet player, gave an outstanding performance playing “A Trumpeter’s Lullaby”.

Word has been spreading about the wonderful music being played at the monthly concerts given by the Bonita Springs Concert Band, and the crowds have been steadily increasing. The January concert program has a nice mix of pop, ragtime, light opera, Broadway show tunes and marches. You won’t want to miss the fun on January 17.

The Bonita Springs Concert Band welcomes everyone to its special Christmas concert on December 13, 2009.

Antonio Castillo, principal trumpeter, will play “A Trumpeter’s Lullaby”. The very talented vocalist, Connie Hill, will sing “White Christmas” and “Have Yourself A Very Merry Christmas”.
