November 4 kicks off the 2018-19 season of the Bonita Springs Concert Band at Riverside Park at 2:00 p.m. The program is entitled “An American Jubilee” as the band’s salute to our veterans. Some of the songs include: Armed Forces Salute, The Battle Cry for Freedom, Elegy for the U.S.S Arizona. and Fantasy on “Yankee Doodle.”
A featured highlight of the concert will be the narration of The Greatest Generation by Michael Davis. This was written for the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor and the gathering of heroes from around the world in December, 2016. This is the perfect selection to honor those that have served in the armed forces past and present.
Davis will also sing Lee Greenwood’s God Bless the U.S.A., and he will serve as guest conductor for selections from Disney’s movie “Aladdin.” You won’t want to miss Michael Davis on drums in Concerto for Drum Set and Band.
For the 5th season in a row the 80+ member band will be under the direction of Gary Smith, retired conductor of the University of Illinois Marching Illini Band. According to Smith, “the band gets better every year.” There’s a waiting list to get into the band because the stage is at maximum capacity.
The concert is free and open to the public. Bring your lawn chairs and help salute our veterans.
